About Melanie Luger

I am a Mandan/Hidatsa my tribe originates from the upper Missouri river located in North Dakota. As a teenager in the 80's, i was digging out my mom's turquoise from the 70's. Turquoise jewelry has been a staple in my wardrobe for as long as i could remember. I began making jewelry when a friend of mine were both young mothers and needed to fund our desire to shop. We decided we could make extra money by making jewelry. We did and we did quite well, we would set up at local rodeo's and craft shows. It wasn't until four years ago i began to start making jewelry again with two kids in college and one soon to be on her way to college. I wanted to create jewelry that represented who I was and many other women as well, modern contemporary women, who have professional career and are proud of their culture and western heritage.

I began to find a true passion for jewelry making. It began more about the passion for the jewelry then about selling the jewelry. I feel like each piece i make has a special place in my heart. The best thing about making all the individual pieces is that in time it'll find its home with somebody who will love it as much as I already do. I hope you enjoy the jewelry as much as I enjoyed making it!

Madzagidatz (thank you),
Melanie Luger
